Calthos's mission is to use the NEPA process to protect the environment by presenting to the public and decision makers the environmental impacts of proposals and alternatives in a scientific manner clearly defining the issues and providing a clear basis for choice among the options. We believe that all people and other sentient beings have the right to a safe and healthful environment. This means combating global warming now. Increased global warming facts are irrefutable: glacial retreat, warming oceans, ocean acidification, sea level rise, declining Arctic Sea ice, extreme events, decreased snow cover, shrinking ice sheets, shrinking lakes, and global temperature rise since the late 19th century. According to NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratories, Global Monitoring Laboratory the estimated global daily carbon dioxide was 421.94 ppm on April 10, 2024. Global warming will impair those ecosystems that cannot adapt quickly enough to the changes it causes. Global warming can be combated by incorporating greenhouse gas (GHG) and energy analyses through the environmental consequences section of the CEQ NEPA Regulations, 1502.16 (a) (6): “Energy requirements and conservation potential of various alternatives and mitigation measures.” Since the NEPA regulations came into effect July 30, 1979, this regulation has been overlooked. Now it is time for its implementation in order to combat global warming. Global warming will affect first and most low-income indigenous people and people of color.  
     The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, Purpose, Sec. 2: The purposes of this Act are: To declare a national policy which will encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between man and his environment; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and biosphere and stimulate the health and welfare of man; to enrich the understanding of the ecological systems and natural resources important to the Nation; and to establish a Council on Environmental Quality.
